Experimenting With My Photos / Black Keys Album Emulation

I saw this album in my car the other day and thought I could somehow use it as part of my development. I've always liked this cover because of the unique idea.

It's just mini-vans! The front and back covers are both pictures of mini-vans, it opens up to reveal two more mini-vans, and again to reveal a further four mini-vans and inside is the disc obviously, but also a book with loads more pictures of mini-vans. all the pictures are side on and at the same sort of distance from the vans.

I wanted to somehow produce my own version of this, obviously with a little twist to make it my own so I used my badge photos to make a front cover.

And obviously the wheel photos were used for a back cover.

I then arranged my photos of scrap cars using indesign so that they were somewhat laid out as pages of a book.

Once they had been printed off I used a guillotine to trim off the spare paper leaving a slightly lager border at the bottom because I thought it would be nice to get a polaroid look to the photos.

After I had stapled the pages together the book looked really good as it was with the motorhome for the front cover and the caravan for the back. It just looked complete without the need for the covers I had made.

So I left them off it and stuck with this being the finished book, I think its a nice idea to just have a simple book like this without the need for text or hand made images. I will definitely be including something like this as part of my final piece.

and a cheeky little back shot for good measure.
